What are you doing for YOU today?

I'm sitting here eavesdropping on a meeting that my husband is ZOOMING. Sorry.....Evon....and his colleagues...but I don't think they would actually care.

A lovely-sounding woman is speaking about multi-tasking, maintaining her health, managing her anxiety, teaching her children, and pausing to stay "present" in her relationships. Wow....it's a lot to process, during these times.

And I realize it's been a LONG while since my last post. That's because the thought of sitting down to write a blog post and hit publish seems like one more thing that will drain my time and psyche. Just like the woman talking.....ONE MORE THING!!! Ahhhhhh!!!!

But I am also processing the value to doing ONE thing for me today. And guess what?!?!?! I did it. I went for a bike ride to the top of Emerald Bay. Regulated my senses by seeing the very blue lake, smelling the fall leaves, touching my handlebars, feeling the road beneath my feet, hearing the wind rustle in the trees. And that is SENSORY INTEGRATION. Taking a moment to process everything around us and incorporating it into our daily meaningful activities. That is what we do in occupational therapy to improve your health and wellness. If you want in on this process, reach out.

Sending love and light to all reading today.....Find your senses and engage in a meaningful activity for you today. You can do it!!! ....and if you feel like you can't, reach out to me.

"When the rubber hits the road!" Truly amazing to connect the sensory integration and not only its value, but its necessity in maintaining internal "order" in our lives... The ability to "process" both consciously and unconsciously all that we are learning is enhanced when we take that time! Thanks Rach for articulating this....

You go girl, biking Emerald Bay! I love this post and how you talk about your appreciation of the beautiful environment in which you live.
